I like he newer one best! I had not considered it until now...possibly as a customized one. Great post! Happy Friday!
Georgia Girl, it does have some great customization possibilities!
I still have the first/older version in a box. I like the opening cabinets in it. I like the fan on the second one and the opening microwave. I don't like that neither offers much counter space, however, the first one worked out well for Ember's kitchen, so I guess they can have their uses.
Jaye, I remember when I first started collecting I saw a few Barbie kitchen sets that had "normal sized" counter space. I guess they had to make them shorter to keep their costs down.
Oh, the newer one with the "real" microwave and the vent hood. That's the one I would prefer. The fewer graphics, the happier I am ;-)
LOL, D7ana! Yes, my Barbie kitchen must have a "real" microwave. None of this graphic nonsense.
I'm looking for kitchen for my dolls, however Barbie ones are to pink for me. I have the set of white kitchen furniture, but they are not tall enough to look good.
Natalia, if they made more non pink furniture I'm sure they would be surprised at how well it would sell. They stick to their demographic though.
Hi, Muff and Natalia! If you put your Barbie kitchen sets on a slight platform (book, block of wood, etc.), that would make the kitchen look taller and a better fit for your dolls. (Come to think of it, I think Muff did that with a furniture set before, on this blog.)I was checking for a link to show how someone had done that for a Jenny kitchen when I came across this photo where a pink kitchen looks classy. How's that for wow in kitchen design?
Now that is one sweet photo, D7ana! That doll looks like she's about to cook up something delicious.
I like the newer one better too. I think the range hood and microwave tip the scales for me! I would probably do a little bit of customization to either one of them.
Phyllis, the less I have to fiddle with a set the more I like it, lol.
They're both cute but I like the newer one with the microwave that opens. It looks more real and since the door is neutral gray if I sprayed the rest of the unit to a more realistic kitchen color, it would still be fine.I don't know why Mattel can't offer sets in normal colors too. I have their Real Sounds house and it's got absolutely no pink to it at all- not even the flowers! And...Barbie was fine with it:-)
LOL Maricha at "Barbie was fine with it." Your Barbie has refined tastes!
Babs needs a real microwave. Let's be honest, she's eating tv dinners like the rest of us!
Presto, Ha! *hides my microwave dinners*
Hey muff!I'm not sure how blogs work, but I commented on your post from 2014. I was wondering which doll was pictured in your jam n glam tour bus photo. I absolutely love it!!Thank You!-jay
Hiya Jay, and thanks for stopping by my blog! That doll is Debbie Harry from the Mattel "Ladies of The 80's" Pink Label line. I have her on a LIV doll articulated body.
Thank you so much I love it! I just started the ooak repaint I'm not too good at it though hahaha
Hi Muff, I've seen you comment on this blog so you may have already seen this but just in case, before she runs out:http://blackdollcollecting.blogspot.ca/2017/04/new-articulated-musician-barbie.html?m=1This doll is pretty enough to keep but black articulated Barbies in darker shades are rare plus this doll has lots of props so I think you may like her.
Ohhhhhh! Thanks for that heads up, Maricha.
Too much pink. Barbie needs to get over having everything pink (and the Princess phase. She's 50 and she's been going through this Princess life-crisis for almost just as long.)
C. Hadden it sounds like you want to stage a intervention with Barbie over her desperate love of pink. 0.o
